Small Grant Competition

Grant Criteria

Funding: A single grant award of up to £20,000. Subject: Can be in any area of dairy research. Linked to other research – can be a stand-alone project or part of a bigger research project (although in this latter case it must be a distinct entity within a larger project). Scotland - must have a Scottish partner, this could be either a research partner or a Scottish company.  Must be registered in Scotland, i.e., not simply a Scottish branch of an international company.

Process

  1. Call will be announced in October in advance of the Next Generation Dairying for Scotland workshop in November (19 – 20).
 
  1. Written submissions (1,500 word maximum) will be accepted up to 5 pm on Monday 19 November.
 
  1. The Judging Panel will be established by Trustees of the Hannah Dairy Research Foundation.
 
  1. The Judging Panel will meet on evening of Monday 19 November and agree a short list of maximum 3 proposals. The shortlisted projects proposers will receive notification of their shortlisting by emailed on Monday evening.
 
  1. The short list will be asked to give a 5 minute presentation followed by 5 minutes of questions as part of breakout session on Tuesday 20th (9:30 to 10:20).
 
  1. The Judging Panel will meet at 10:20 on Tuesday 20th and agree a preferred project. This will be announced at 12:30 pm.
 
  1. After the announcement, the preferred project will have 4 weeks to submit a more detailed proposal which will be checked by Foundation to ensure due diligence.
 
  1. If no project is deemed suitable as a preferred project the call will be opened to others to submit proposal by 20 December. Proposals submitted at the workshop can be resubmitted.
